KidPower Kids!

During 2012, Kidpower North Carolina Center Director Dr. Amy Tiemann is on a writing sabbatical, so we are not able to schedule any new workshops at this time. She'll be producing a book that will help bring personal safety skills to a new audience, "Doing Right by Our Kids: Protecting Child Safety at All Levels of Society."

For more information on this innovative new project, co-authored and produced with Kidpower Founder and Executive Director Irene van der Zande, visit www.DoingRightByOurKids.com

The Kidpower Central office's website offers an abundance of free or low-cost resources for teaching child safety. To learn more, visit www.Kidpower.org.

We highly recommend the Kidpower e-newsletter as a valuable resource. Sign up on the Kidpower.org website.

PERSONAL SAFETY
“I can use my own power to stay safe.”

CONFIDENCE
“I can believe in myself.”

SELF PROTECTION
“I can protect myself from trouble.”

ADVOCACY
“I can speak up for myself and others.”

With some simple adult guidance, even very young children have the power to develop basic safety skills that can help them stay safe with strangers and with people they know.  These basic skills are the foundation of personal safety habits that they can use for the rest of their lives.

Kidpower workshops provide a framework for learning and practicing these skills with parents and caregivers in a way that is effective without being scary. Kidpower NC offers classes for children, teens, and family workshops, as well as specific training for parents, caregivers, and other adult professionals who work with kids.
